Summertime Yoga in the natural parks of Madison!
This blog was created as a place to connect up with other people who like to meditate and do yoga outdoors with the sun and the birds and the trees! Also, I have been digging photography lately and want to post photos I have been taking of trees and of yoga!
My name is Laurel Franklin and I am going to be teaching outdoor yoga classes in all the cool natural areas of Madison WI. I was just recently certified for teaching yoga (200hour training through Alex Pfieffer) and have been practicing it solo in nature for almost 6 years. There is something about being amidst the natural world that makes it soooo much easier for me to stop time and relax and get into the meditative state of yoga.
The classes will be every Sunday at 10am. We are going to start out at the amazing Cherokee Marsh with all the ancient burial mounds, sand-hill cranes, bald eagles, etc. I also think it is very important to get your heart rate going first to release excess energy, and become embodied and present, so the classes will start with either speed walking or jogging around the trails for 30 min., and then meeting at the top of the hill on the platform to do some cool down slow vinyasa yoga for 45 min. ahhhhhhhhh. cant wait! The classes will be donation based with 10% of proceeds going back into the preservation of the park. Come get your excersize, meditative, and nature fix, while helping the earth at the same time.....10am at Cherokee Marsh starting the first Sunday in June! Can't wait to see you there!
